Police Standoff With Armed Robbery Suspects [Body Cam Footage]

Police Engage Suspect In Trunk.

San Francisco Police Officers were flagged down by some victims of an armed robbery. The car and suspects in the footage matched the description. They released this footage in the name of transparency.

Police have a dangerous job but a necessary one to keep us all safe. It was established in Graham vs Connor that the police are not ordinary citizens, in that they must make split-second life and death decisions sometimes daily. Therefore jurors are usually given the following advice in Police Shooting cases.

Under the fourth amendment, a police officer may use only such force as is objectively reasonable, you must judge the reasonableness of a particular use of force from the perspective of a reasonable officer on the scene and not with 20/20 vision of hindsight.

And from another perspective.

And the Last Body Cam Perspective.

The Media likes to forget that an officer doesn’t have the luxury of waiting to see if the suspect pulls a weapon or whatever from their pocket. The extra time it would take for an officer to identify what the man is pulling from his pocket could cost him/her their lives.

In this case, the suspect just had to show his hands and exit the trunk. The officers tried their best to communicate with him. This should have been an easy request. They even had a Spanish interpreter voice instructions in case the man was unable to understand English. The Police are out their to protect us, it is just unfortunate that people fail to listen. The Police did what needed to be done for the safety of the public.
