Senator Rand Paul Under Attack: Blindsided At His Home.

Senator Rand Paul Assaulted By Neighbor.

Today Senator Rand Paul got more than a little Cardio out of his outside chores, as he was blindsided by his neighbor. The Senator had been mowing his lawn when it is claimed that out of nowhere his neighbor, Rene Boucher came from behind him and tackled him to the ground. Paul suffered minor injuries to his face and had trouble breathing from a previous rib injury.

The motive of the neighbor is currently unknown but there may have been a feud about property lines as their properties touch in the corners.

“Kentucky State Police say the FBI is now investigating to see if the assault was politically motivated.”

Boucher was charged with a misdemeanor of 4th-degree assault, punishable by up to 12 months in jail depending on the severity of Paul’s injuries.

“Senator Paul was blindsided and the victim of an assault,” Kelsey Cooper, a spokeswoman for Paul, said in a statement. “The assailant was arrested and it is now a matter for the police. Senator Paul is fine.”

I guess Rand has more to worry about when mowing the lawn than just the blade.

Watch The News Reel Below.

As Reported By Natalia Martinez, NBC Wave 3 News.

According to the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure, Boucher is a retired physician, as of February 2015. He was licensed in 1998.

According to records obtained by WAVE 3 News, he graduated from the University of Des Moines Osteopathic Med & Surgery.

WAVE 3 News was also able to confirm Boucher was a registered Democrat, but that registration in  Rhode Island was canceled. On his Facebook page, Boucher’s previous posts have been politically charged, showing frustration with President Donald Trump. We did not find any posts mentioning Senator Paul.

Records show Boucher’s home is also in Bowling Green. It is valued at $740,000.

Boucher is being held at the Warren County Detention Center on a $7,500 bond.
