The Las Vegas Raiders recently issued an appalling statement after one of their players was involved in a deadly accident.
Henry Ruggs III, receiver, was involved in a deadly accident that claimed the life of a 23 year old woman. He is expected to be charged with DUI resulting in death and reckless driving resulting in death or serious bodily harm. Local police report that Riggs was traveling at 156 miler per hour and collided with another vehicle. The crash resulted in the death of a 23 year old woman who was operating the vehicle that was struck.
Interim Head Coach Rich Bisaccia issued condolence to the victim’s family but, then started to defend his player.
“We want to express our sincere condolences to the victim’s family. A person lost their life yesterday morning, and we think it’s important to keep focus on that as we talk about this tragic event. We’re deeply saddened for everyone affected, especially the victim’s family,” Bisaccia said.
“That being said, we love Henry Ruggs. We want him to know that. It was a terrible lapse in judgement, of the most horrific kind, and something that he’ll have to live with the rest of his life,” the coach added.
When news of the accident went public below is all that the Raiders said:
“The Raiders are aware of an accident involving Henry Ruggs III that occurred this morning in Las Vegas. We are devastated by the loss of life and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family. We are in the process of gathering information and will have no further comment at this time.”
The team had harsher words for now fired head coach Jon Gruden who lost his job over an email he sent 10 years ago working for another employer.
“The content of an email regarding DeMaurice Smith from Jon Gruden when he worked for ESPN 10 years ago is disturbing and not what the Raiders stand for.”

Their former coach writes a “mean” email and it’s off with his head however, when one of their players allegedly takes the life of another human they express compassion.
