There still is some accountability left in the United States.
After shareholders began launching lawsuits and getting crushed in the stock market the internet streaming company Netflix decided to do a 180.
A recent lawsuit accused the company and its top brass of initiating “employed devices, schemes and artifices to defraud [investors], while in possession of material adverse non-public informationโ the lawsuit reads. They also made โuntrue statements of material facts and/or omitting to state material facts necessary in order to make the statements made about Netflix and its business operations and future prospects in light of the circumstances under which they were made not misleading,โ the suit claims.
When the big losses in the stock market were reported Netflix claimed that it was because people were sharing their login information. However, it was rumored that people were leaving the company because they created woke unwatchable content.
On May 16, 2022, the company began to make a change by telling employees that if they don’t like the content the company is publishing then they should quit. The memo sent to employees referred to the incident when woke employees attempted to get Dave Chappelle’s comedy special taken down.
โWhile every title is different, we approach them based on the same set of principles: we support the artistic expression of the creators we choose to work with; we program for a diversity of audiences and tastes; and we let viewers decide whatโs appropriate for them, versus having Netflix censor specific artists or voices,โ the memo said.
โIf youโd find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you,” the memo concluded.
The company also added a commitment to shareholders and profits on their culture page.
It was a rebuke of the woke that had infected the company.
Then on May 17, 2022, Netflix began giving employees their walking papers and terminated contracts with woke organizations.
From Gizmodo:
Contractors across all of Netflixโs diverse social media channels got the ax Tuesday, including the Black community-focusedย Strong Black Lead, Latinx-focusedย Con Todo, Asian American-focusedย Golden, and the LGBTQ-focusedย Most.
Additionally, Deadline reported that many of the 150ย people laid off were woke Hollywood top executives that had joined the company over the past few years.
If you go woke you really do go broke.
