A California teacher is off the job and facing police scrutiny after a series of social media videos featuring guns and a call to form a “black militia.”

Video quote aired by ABC30

Bearing Arms identified the teacher as Kenisha Daily, a special education teacher in the Madera Unified School District. The outlet reported that ABC30 KFSN aired a clip in which Daily said, “Starting today, I’m starting a black militia. So if you’re black, if you want to shoot some guns, come find me. We’re going to rob some white people.”

The source article also states that Daily posted multiple videos showing herself loading a shotgun and a pistol.

Parents alerted authorities; police secure temporary order

According to Bearing Arms’ summary of reporting by the California Post, parents who saw the videos contacted the school district, which then reached out to Fresno police. Officers went to Daily’s home, spoke with her, and obtained a temporary restraining order. The source notes it is unclear what type of restraining order was granted.

Teacher’s statement and apology

Daily later said she “viewed the post as entertainment and never meant to threaten, harm, or alarm anyone,” according to Bearing Arms. She added that she is “genuinely heartbroken that a careless post has caused people to question my character and the trust they have in me. For anyone who had been impacted or made to feel uncomfortable, I am truly sorry.”
