Despite all the pushback the White House seems to be gleefully looking forward to a battle with red states over Biden’s OSHA rule that has been submitted for review according to reports.
“We know that federal law overrides state law,” Press Secretary Jen Psaki said when asked about the pushback.
The press secretary accused DeSantis and Abbott of playing politics with the coronavirus.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently passed an executive order banning vaccine mandates.
“In yet another instance of federal government overreach, the Biden Administration is now bullying many private entities into imposing COVID-19 vaccine mandates, causing workforce disruptions that threaten Texas’s continued recovery from the COVID-19 disaster,” Abbott wrote.
DeSantis banned vaccine passports in the spring and even fined a Florida county $1.3 million because they fired 14 employees who refused to get vaccinated.
“We must protect the jobs of Floridians and preserve the ability of Floridians to make their own decisions regarding what shots to take,” the Florida governor said.
Psaki claimed, “Bottom line is, we’re going to continue to implement the law, which the president of the United States has the ability, the authority, the legal authority to do,” she said.
The bottom line is, it’s a rule not a law, it wasn’t passed by Congress and signed by the President. If Biden really wanted to impose a mandate he would force also those receiving federal assistance – welfare – to be vaccinated or lose their benefits. He could try and pass a bill through Congress but he won’t because he knows it would never happen.
What should be more concerning is that Biden seems to be gleefully looking forward to a show down with the states instead of working with them and that is scary. The president would rather rule like a dictator and let a lot of people lose their jobs.
