Wonderful news! Seattle’s police department has been ordered not to handle mental “crisis” calls. Oh, the bright-eyed city fathers (and mothers) say police can stage or wait nearby. However, the police will not handle these calls.
What possibly could go wrong?
Dispatchers will make @SeattlePD aware of the crisis call, but officers will only be allowed to observe nearby.
Crisis calls often consist of the person in crisis brandishing weapons; like knives and firearms.
