After weeks of disrespect shown at NFL games, with little to nothing done to remedy the situation, Albright College in Pennsylvania has stepped up. The administrators saw the disrespectful player take a knee and they did what every NFL team should be doing now and should have been done in the beginning.
The Coach warned the player gave him a chance to respect the flag and reflect on his decision, knowing he’s a student that is probably being negatively affected by the NFL players. But on the second occasion, when the player, Gyree Durante, kneeled again the Coach put his foot down. He dismissed Durante from the team.
Trump on Hannity expressed similar sentiments saying they should have dealt with this issue in the beginning with Kaepernick.
“I watched Colin Kaepernick, and I thought It was Terrible. And then it got bigger and bigger and started mushrooming. Frankly, the NFL should have suspended him for one game and he would have never done it again. They could have then suspended him for two games and they could have suspended if he did it a third time for the season and you would have never have had a problem.”
“But I will tell you, you can not disrespect our country, our flag, our anthem, you cannot do that”
Durante is planning to transfer to a school closer to home in Florida. He made clear that his decision has nothing at all to do with the protest or the reaction to the protest.“I just think Albright’s not the right fit for me right now,” he said. “This whole thing probably made it a little easier to leave, but I have nothing against the school.
I think the school is very accepting because when I walk around campus I see so many people from different cultures, different ethnicities, different backgrounds.
When asked if he would kneel now knowing what he does now, Durante said adamantly that he would.“It’s all been worth it,” he said. “If I had to do it all over again, I would make the same decision.”
