(Headline USA) The GOP-led House Oversight Committee issued its first subpoenas this week to Hunter Biden, James Biden and a Biden family business associate, Rob Walker.
The committeeโs subpoenas requested that Hunter, James and Walker appear before the panel for testimony as part of its investigation into the Biden familyโs alleged influence-peddling.
The subpoenas also requested transcribed interviews from James Bidenโs wife, Sara Biden; President Joe Bidenโs daughter-in-law Hallie Biden; and Hunter Bidenโs current wife, Melissa Cohen.
The requests come after a bombshell report from the committee revealing bank documents that showed James and Sara Biden wrote Joe Biden a $40,000 check shortly after a Chinese energy company paid Hunter $400,000โeffectively making good on a promise to remit 10% to the โbig guy.โ
Other financial records accumulated by the committee showed members of the Biden familyโincluding Hunter, James, Hallie and Sara Bidenโhad received more than $1 million in payments from accounts related to Walker.
โThe House Oversight Committee has followed the money and built a record of evidence revealing how Joe Biden knew, was involved, and benefited from his familyโs influence peddling schemes,โ House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said in a statement.
โNow, the House Oversight Committee is going to bring in members of the Biden family and their associates to question them on this record of evidence,โ he added.
Comer went on to blast Joe Biden for dismissing the investigation into his familyโs business deals.
โUnlike the many lies President Biden told the American people about his familyโs business schemes, bank records donโt lie,โ Comer said. โThese records reveal how the Bidens sold Joe Biden around to the world to benefit the Biden family, including Joe Biden himself, to the detriment of U.S. interests.โ
When asked about the subpoenas on Wednesday, the White House once again claimed House Republicansโ investigation has โturned up zero evidence of wrongdoingโ by the president.
โRepublicans continue to double down on a baseless, baseless smear campaign against the president and his family instead of being focused on the American peopleโs needs,โ claimed White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
