Salcido Finally Addresses Anti Military Rant.
Last month we all were disgusted by this sad excuse for a teacher and his hateful military rant. Gregory Salcido called our military dumbsh*ts as well as claiming that they are talentless. Since then he has been hiding from the public as there has been a national backlash from his anti-military stance. What’s worse is that he would try to teach this negative perspective to his students.
This past Tuesday Salcido showed up at a city council meeting that aimed to push him to resign from his position on the council. He, of course, had no interest in doing so and once again spouted some nonsense comparing our military to fast food workers. Claiming that fast food workers and the military were both equally unfavorable occupations.
“My goal as it relates to my students related to the military. Is to get them to do everything to get to college. It’s not just the military — I don’t want them to work in a fast-food restaurant, either… I am talking about their academic standing. I don’t think it’s at all a revelation to anybody that those who aren’t stellar students usually find the military a better option. That is as plain as that it’s Tuesday night.”
The comparison intended to somehow justify his past comments. He attempted an apology but it was more of a sorry if someone is offended but I’m in the right about this one.
The public was not swayed by his pathetic attempt at an apology. They demanded he resign. The crowd that showed up to face him was large enough that they had so set up tents outside with TV’s to view the meeting. The public had plenty to say to him.
“Do the right thing. Be a man, stand up, apologize and resign.”
“How dare you! How dare you stay there! How dare you not resign.”
“The Marine Core, The Navy, It saved some my friends, and some of them didn’t make it!”
“I’m shaking right now because I’m pissed off and angry,” said Irvine resident Eric Martinez, who grew up in Pico Rivera. “I just thank God that I can refrain from jumping over this podium to get you.”

“During Tuesday’s meeting, Mayor Gustavo Camacho read aloud the names of some veterans buried at area cemeteries.”They should not be mocked or made to feel like they were the lowest of the low,” Camacho said. “Instead we should be paying tribute and honoring their memories and contributions, and we should be thanking their families every day.”
The City Council did not have him resign but put it on the record that he had disgraced the city.
“The resolution states that Salcido’s comments placed the city “under intense national scrutiny, and have placed our city under a cloud of dishonor, disparagement, suspicion and criticism.”
He needs to resign already.
