Government Shutdown at a standstill as politics takes precedence over the American people.
Thankfully a motion of ‘continuing resolution’ was brought on the floor and passed so, at least temporarily, the shutdown isn’t in effect. How far is this really going to go? The way I see it, Democrats are putting ‘Dreamers’ ahead of the men and women in the United States military. Putting more importance into illegal immigrants that the countless government employees, beneficiaries, and infrastructure itself.
It doesn’t stop with DACA, though, because face it if they actually cared, coming to a bipartisan decision would have been far more important than this show of ‘force’. There is also the matter of the FISA memo, which should uncover the motives and persons behind the bogus Trump-Dossier, at hand here. While most Democrats vote ‘no’ to the release of this memo they leave the Government’s budget in the lurch, coincidence?
In my opinion, if Democrats put this much ‘compassion’ into programs and bills for America’s own inner cities, if they showed just a fraction of the same respect, there would be little to no ghettos in America. Not the ‘for the little guy’ party they claim to be, are they?
The deadline arrived without a deal. The U.S. government shut down at midnight Friday after Congress failed to overcome a partisan divide over immigration and spending.
In a late-night vote, Senate Democrats joined to block a bill that would have kept the government running until mid-February. A flurry of last-minute negotiations failed to produce an agreement.
Democrats tried to use the Friday night funding deadline to win concessions from Republicans, including an extension of DACA, an Obama-era program protecting some young immigrants from deportation. The program is set to expire in March. Republicans sought more time for talks, but Democrats refused.
The shutdown is only the fourth government closure in a quarter-century. It will only partially curb government operations…
