As Reported By Todd Starnes At Toddstanes.com:

The Oregon Court of Appeals upheld a decision that forced two Christian bakers to pay $135,000 to a lesbian couple who said they felt “mentally raped” when the bakers declined to make a wedding cake.

“Freedom of expression for ourselves should require freedom of expression for others,” First Liberty Institute president Kelly Shackelford said.

First Liberty, one of the nation’s most prominent religious liberty law firms, represented the Kleins.

“The Oregon Court of Appeals decided that Aaron and Melissa Klein are not entitled to the Constitution’s promise of religious liberty and free speech,” Shackelford said.

The Kleins, who owned Sweet Cakes By Melissa, made national headlines in 2013 when they declined to make a wedding cake for Rachel and Laurel Bowman-Cryer.

The Christian family was subjected to a homo-fascist mob that boycotted their business, threatened other wedding vendors and subjected their young children to death threats.

“Shouldn’t people of faith have rights too? Don’t Aaron and Melissa Klein’s rights count for anything? I’ve met Aaron and Melissa. As a result of this episode, they’ve lost their business and had their lives turned upside down. They’ve had to deal with these legal issues continually since day 1. It has impacted their family and their future. Who is considering the Klein’s emotional distress after being targeted by the LGBT agenda? I guess that doesn’t count to these progressive leftist judges. The Kleins didn’t keep anyone from getting a cake. They just refused to personally design a custom cake for a lesbian same-sex ceremony that went against their religious beliefs and convictions. That should be their right. Religious freedom is under attack. Pray for the Kleins and their family. And join me in praying that the Supreme Court will rule in favor of our religious freedom and rights of conscience in a similar case they are now considering.” Franklin Graham, President of Samaritan’s Purse and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, wrote on his Facebook page in response to the unlawful judgment.
