The issue behind the formula shortage is two-fold. First is the widespread supply chain issue due to the pandemic, which has affected everything from cars to Nutella.
To make matters worse, in February, the Food & Drug Administration closed Abbott Nutrition’s Michigan factory after Abbott voluntarily recalled brands of its formula. The formula was tied to a bacterial infection that was linked to the deaths of at least two infants.
Abbott produces Similac, a routine milk-based formula, as well as Similac Advance and other specialty formulas for babies with certain allergies.
In other words, the Biden administration’s failure to solve supply chain issues and his FDA dragging its feet has led to a crisis.
Retailers like Target, Walgreens, and others are being forced to ration formula because stocks are low and the shelves are empty unless you are at a detention center at our southern border.
Thanks to photos from a whistleblower Rep. Kat Cammack (R-FL) has discovered that truckloads of baby formula have been sent to the border.
“They are sending pallets, pallets of baby formula to the border,” Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Fla., said in a video posted to Facebook Wednesday. “Meanwhile, in our own district at home, we cannot find baby formula.”
“The first photo is from this morning at the Ursula Processing Center at the U.S. border. Shelves and pallets packed with baby formula,” Cammack wrote. “The second is from a shelf right here at home. Formula is scarce. This is what America last looks like.”

Look everyone has to be able to eat and we have an obligation to feed those in custody. Nobody is arguing that we shouldn’t feed children. But, where are the FEMA tents distributing formula in our towns, cities, and neighborhoods? Abbott has said the shortage is going to last at least another 6 months. What is Biden’s plan until the shortage is over?
