It was number two of a one-two punch that began Biden’s slide in his already low approval ratings.
Last fall, after the humiliating withdrawal from Afghanistan the Biden administration, created a crisis under the international bridge near Del Rio, Texas.
It was estimated that about 15,000 mainly Haitian immigrants gathered under the bridge.
During the crisis, Customs and Border Patrol agents were on horseback attempting to arrest illegal immigrants crossing the border. The entire incident was caught on video and the agents were accused of whipping migrants.
โI think people should take away that his actions make clear how horrible and horrific these images are, including an investigation, including a change of policy, including conveying clearly that this is not acceptable, and heโs not going to stand for this in the Biden-Harris administration,โ Press Secretary Jen Psaki said.
Democrat lawmakers piled on claiming that the actions of the agents on horseback were “human rights abuses.”
โThese are human rights abuses, plain and simple. Cruel, inhumane, and a violation of domestic and international law,โ Rep. Ilhan Omar said in a post. โThis needs a course correction and the issuance of a clear directive on how to humanely process asylums seekers at our border.โ
Congressman John Katko, ranking Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee said, “They wasted no time in vilifying these agents before hearing their side of the story. Itโs shameful that this Administration continues to denigrate and demoralize law enforcement without a full picture of the facts.”
Even the photographer that captured the entire incident defended the agents debunking the claim that they whipped illegal immigrants.
โI didnโt ever see them whip anybody, with the thing,โ photographer Paul Ratije told El Paso TV station. โHe was swinging it. But I didnโt see him actually take โ whip someone with it. Thatโs something that can be misconstrued when youโre looking at the picture.โ
Well, the facts are out and a 500-page report clears the agents of all wrongdoing. But, the head of the National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd is worried because nobody knows what is in the report.
โNo one knows whatโs in the report,โ Judd said. โI donโt know whatโs in it. As of yesterday afternoon, the chief of the Border Patrol didnโt know whatโs in it.โ
โIโve never seen a 500-page report where no one did anything wrong,โ he added.
Now that their smear campaign has fallen apart suddenly the White House doesn’t want to talk about it.
