As China ramps up tensions toward Taiwan it has been learned that the United States secretly deployed a Special Forces group and Marines to train the Taiwanese military.
Soldiers have been on the group for at least a year providing training for ground operations and small boat units.
The news broke after 150 Chinese fighter jets and bombers encroached the defense zone of Taiwan over a four day period. The aircraft did not penetrate the countries airspace but stayed along the edge of the defense zone.
Taiwan Premier Su Tseng-chang warned this week that “Taiwan definitely needs to be on alert.”
“China is increasingly over the top,” he said. “We must come together as one and strengthen ourselves, only then will countries that want to annex Taiwan not dare to easily resort to force.”
“It’s very important that no one take unilateral actions that change the status quo by force,” Blinken said in the interview, conducted on the sidelines of a meeting of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. “We need to see China stop these actions.”
In contrast, Biden confused everyone when he said that he would back off and honoring a previous agreement with China. The gaffe caused the White House to “clarify” the president’s statement claiming, “Our position on Taiwan remains clear. We will stand with friends and allies to advance our shared prosperity, security, and values in the Indo‐Pacific region.”
This has all the makings of another Joe Biden international debacle.
