Democrats Just Punished Senator Sinema For Thinking For Herself…

The Democrats just can’t keep themselves out of trouble… and the latest Dems in big trouble is Arizona Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema.

But this time, it’s her own party who censure Sinema, the Arizona Democratic Party Executive Board voted on Saturday.

Here’s the statement from the board:

“While we take no pleasure in this announcement, the ADP Executive Board has decided to formally censure Senator Sinema as a result of her failure to do whatever it takes to ensure the health of our democracy.

Chairwoman Raquel Teran said in a statement, “…on the matter of the filibuster and the urgency to protect voting rights, we have been crystal clear. In the choice between an archaic legislative norm and protecting Arizonans’ right to vote, we choose the latter, and we always will.”

“She has an incredible ability to work across the aisle, Let’s see that ability put to work for voting rights,” Teran added.

Sinema had become the best to worst with only one move, as per Rep. Ruben Gallego said, “Any reservoir of goodwill that she had is gone,”

Sinema’s defenders say nobody who has watched her for the past decade should be surprised by her position. She often bucked her party in the House, ran an aggressively moderate campaign for Senate, and has never wavered in her support for upholding the filibuster.

“During three terms in the U.S. House, and now in the Senate, Kyrsten has always promised Arizonans she would be an independent voice for the state — not for either political party,” Hannah Hurley, Sinema’s spokesperson, said in a statement. “She’s delivered for Arizonans and has always been honest about where she stands.”

Her influence is driven by the Senate’s 50-50 split, which essentially gives any senator the ability to kill the legislation, an option Sinema has repeatedly exercised.

Sinema lost a major endorsement this week from Emily’s List, a large political organization that bankrolls campaigns they endorse, including those who support abortion rights.

Emily’s List President Laphonza Butler said in a statement, “If Sen. Sinema can not support a path forward for the passage of this legislation, we believe she undermines the foundations of our democracy, her own path to victory and also the mission of EMILY’s List, and we will be unable to endorse her moving forward,”

It’s just these Dems are ratting themselves out.
