Trump Takes Jab At Police Who Failed To Act During Florida Shooting.
The Florida shooting has been in the media non-stop from the tragic details of that day to the gun control issues. But this incident could have been much different. There could have been a heck of a lot less bloodshed. If the police had done what they are supposed to do. The whole serve and protect motto went out the window when the police present during the shooting hung back until the end.
There are no guarantees that the officers would have been able to save the students, but they could have at least tried. Is that not what they are paid for? Would this not fall under the protect part of the motto? This incident was at a school during the day and at least one officer among the others was more complicit. He was a school resource officer whose sole job was to keep the school safe.
Broward Deputy Scot Peterson was stationed at the school. He made the odd decision of waiting outside while the shooting took place inside. He claims that he was in the right.
“Peterson said he did not storm the halls looking for the shooter because he initially “heard gunshots but believed those gunshots were originating from outside of the buildings on the school campus,” according to the statement. “BSO trains its officers that in the event of outdoor gunfire one is to seek cover and assess the situation in order to communicate what one observes with other law enforcement.”
He “took up a tactical position” between two other buildings next to Building 12, where Cruz spent six minutes unleashing gunfire with an AR-15 assault-style rifle.
So for six minutes, he couldn’t figure out where the shooting was coming from?
Trump weighed in on the police officers “disgraceful performance.”
“You don’t know until you test it, but I think, I really believe I’d run in there, even if I didn’t have a weapon, and I think most of the people in this room would have done that too,” Trump told a gathering of US governors at the White House.”

In the heat of the moment, it is tough for the normal person to act but this wasn’t a civilian. These were armed and trained authorities. These are people that know the sound of gunfire and are trained to deal with armed perpetrators. So why is it that none them even attempted to confront or stop this shooter? Is this cowardice or poor implementation of tactical training?
