Is Zuckerberg (Facebook) Against The Current Administration?

Earlier this morning Trump Tweeted that Facebook was Anti-Trump.

During the campaigning process, many advertisements were created for the multiple candidates. Trump is referring to the ads that were bought by Russians to try and influence voters. Russians spent $150,000 on ads that were Pro Trump, Stein, and Sanders. $150,000 worked out to about 3000 Russian sponsored ads.  However, this is just a drop in the bucket with $150,000 not even amounting to 1% of all campaign ads.

The idea is that Russians through Social Media were able to divide and conquer. The push for Sanders and Stein were to prevent Hilary from getting those votes leading to a Trump win. This new information points to another Russian attempt to meddle with the American Election.

Zuckerberg responded to the allegations via Facebook and believes that the social media platform is a place for ideas and discussion to happen and is not partial to either party. Facebook is a place where.. “We hope to give all people a voice.”

He also went on to point out that Facebook actually put more money into getting people to get out and vote than any of the candidates. According to Zuckerberg going forward, Facebook will be a “force for good in democracy” preventing the spread of misinformation and possible subversion of elections.

“This is too important an issue to be dismissive,” he wrote. “But the data we have has always shown that our broader impact — from giving people a voice to enabling candidates to communicate directly to helping millions of people vote — played a far bigger role in this election.”

Facebook has faced sharp criticism since it revealed earlier this summer that a group affiliated with the Russian government purchased 3,000 ads dealing with social and political causes during the election.

Facebook, Google, and Twitter have been invited to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Nov. 1. A separate hearing with the House Intelligence Committee is expected to take place in October.
